Halloween 2014
Well it was magical and all. LOL. I am loading some of the pics. Starting with this one:
That was the can-can skirt. Itchy.
The concept was very simple- people kept telling me I looked like Alice in Wonderland, and I went with it.
First thing in the morning, no makeup. Eeww.
Fake hair!
It kind of inspired me. I'd like to start working on another sewing project- even if it's just hand sewing and sitting watching TV. It was a good effort this year. Glad it's over.

Nothing Ever Goes as Planned
Well I've been pegging away at the Harajuku costume. Ruffles and ribbons and lace, etc. I tried on the apron and thought, YUCK! Now, no apron looks good over a pair of sweatpants, but still...it left me cold. I made a pocket in the top of the apron to carry pens, work stuff, etc. Still plan on making a little drawstring bag. I will keep adjusting until I get it right. Plus, a 50 year old old woman is NOT going to look like a cute young girl.
Of course all this sewing has got me thinking about what the next project will be- and I keep going to Elizabeth. QE 1 would be a triumph!
My hands have been bothering me, what with the arthritis and all, but I plan on keeping up sewing and knitting and creating. Why not? What else is there.

Working on the Harajuku
I've been working on my costume a lot- and it's nearly done. I have made most of it stitching by hand- so weird for me. It's because I just can't stand the mess of my sewing room, or worse yet, the livingroom with my sewing machine in it. So I've been working on the details with needle and thread, watching TV with the old man. Now, I did some of it on the sewing machine, a lot of the hems of the ruffles and things, but there's tons I did by hand. I was actually thinking I would go over the seams with the machine once I have the ruffles stitched down, just to reinforce and make it strong.
Also, I bought a fake pony tail so I can have hair for a day. And damned if I wouldn't like to get a better quality one so I could have hair once in a while. I loved it!
I've enjoyed this year's project and though it's not that amazing, I think it's fun and easy to wear. I still have to make a little purse to carry my stuff and my little bunny around in. I promise myself I will take pictures this time. I might even take pictures of the work in progress though that seems a little ambitious.

Time
I love my friend Billy at work. He is the one who inspired me to dress up last year- after 2012, the year I sort of gave up on everything. His costume is hush-hush. I wont even divulge it here. But if it works out, it's a friggin' winner! My costume this year...well, I have lots of plans. Lots of fabric. Lots of things I want to do. Not very much time. I am somewhat stalled on the petticoat- though I have gotten more ideas on the internet today. I have a vision. Let's leave it at that.

Endless Possibilities
I LOVE this time of year. Everyone at work is whispering- what are you gonna be for Halloween? What are you going to dress up as? Heep in mind we are all mature, grown people. But it's so much fun! Like I've always said you either love it or hate it and seems like a lot of casino people love it.
I am still thinking of Harajuku Lolita, and I've mixed up a concoction to condition my wigs...LOL. I read that laundry softener and water 1 to 4 ratio, works wonders but I didn't have any softener so I got a bounce sheet, a little spray bottle, and a cup of hot water. I put the Bounce sheet in the hot water and squeezed out all the softener then poured the liquid into the spray bottle. Shook it up and sprayed two of my wigs. Oh, the improvement! They both look so much better.
That's about the high point of my summer!

On Cue- Change my MInd
I have yet another idea- talk at work has turned to Halloween, as it usually does this time of year, and I was saying, Oh, yeah I will probably drag out my Ms. Kay costume since I didn't wear it last year. Of course I have already documented Jessica's talk of Geisha and Japan that got me started haunting the webs for ideas, and danged if I didn't come up with one: harajuku girl!
I've already got a pink wig (Who has a pink wig but me?) that I can put some big bows on. I could knit leg warmers. I could find something pink and dolly from the Goodwill-- no one will know what the hell I am, but I am used to having to explain my costumes. People thought Marie Antoinette was Martha Washington. People know who Minnie Mouse and Snow White were though....but this will be a way to use that wig I've been searching for a costume idea for, for YEARS!
We'll see. Early days. I will probably change my mind again.

Geisha Lady?
A friend of mine at work suggested a Geisha costume. I have actually become somewhat fascinated by this idea- and absorbed by all thing Japanese, of course. If I had better hair I would do it absolutely, but with this junk on my head, I don't know.
I also thought about just using Ms. Kay- since I didn't use it last year. And it would be so cool if my old man would make use of Charbonneau- but I wouldn't do that to him. I just couldn't. You either like to dress up or you don't. And he don't!
I keep looking at the Elizabeth wig...who knows when I will really sew again. It's sad. I suppose I should be looking for a big satin bathrobe for the geisha costume- if I'm serious.
