What Next?
Sad to say, I don't know what next. It's going to be a busy year of knitting and baby doll sewing. Maybe I wont even have time for a costume in 2011. Maybe I wont even be alive! But if I am I bet I'm making some dumb outfit!

My Friends
Most everyone participated pretty well at work, which was fun. But Halloween on a Sunday? Not a good thing for getting a lot of costumes. I was impressed by a lot of them. It was great. I will put the complete album on Flickr- and not only because my computer keeps crashing. Think it might be because it gets too hot watching videos.
Pictured is Gail, Cyndi Lauper, whose idea it was to be 80's rockstars, which went well with out Hard Rock place of employment. My big, over the top cartoon Dolly was appreciated, but it was awkward opening machine doors and bending and sitting and stuff. Worth it, though.
Aaaanyway, next year, who knows what will happen!

Halloween : The Big Day
Friday, October 29, 2010
It's Friday?
And Halloween is Sunday and I'm not done with my costume yet? How often does that happen? Never? Maybe once or twice. I'm going to have to get up and do something. Just haven't felt well. Each day I look at Dolly's giant tatas and laugh, but....I better get moving fast.

Boobs!
Lots of work done, still more to go if I'm going to be able to work in this mess. I hope it's as funny as I think it's going to be. A little puzzled as to how to make the wig work. Right now lots of hand stitching, rigging and pinning. I look longingly at the mountain man.

STOP!
Freeze! Put that mountain man costume down!
In keeping with falling in and going along with peer pressure, which is something I've always done, I have changed my costume to Dolly Parton. (Mostly because I wont be able to wear a mountain man beard, so what's the point???) I love Dolly and this costume will be an homage to her greatness. I made the boobs yesterday, testing them for scale, considering I'm a foot taller than Miss P and have no boobs at all. I'm going for Drag Queen Dolly, or maybe Dolly Witch, depending on what kind of fabric I have stashed around. I had to submit the idea to Gail for approval, since I wasn't sure I'd be in line with theme. Checked out ok. So now, in October, I am making a last minute costume. Dumbass!

Charbonneau
My costume idea is so complete I don't want to give in to peer pressure and devise a last-minute rocker costume like all the other kids at work. Crap! I will bring the picture of Bama's work of art in case I get any flack. I described myself as Sacajewea's worthless French Canadian trapper husband. I did a book report on the Bird Woman in grade school and I always thought her husband seemed like an ass. It'll be easy to work in, I think.

Change of Plans
Since I've done nothing but knit, I'm afraid I'll have to scrap all ideas for anything new this year. But I do have the mountain man costume, which is all but complete- and maybe even complete-able in short notice. I'm planning on knitting a red mountain man hat and getting a beard. Bug hates when I dress up as a man because I so obviously enjoy it. But this year I wont have a choice!

September
Shit! I'm not even started my costume this year, beyond what I did long ago and now hate and wish to change. Thought about a Flapper, again- ugh, how lame, but I need to be able to wear it to work. I'm taking a couple days off around my birthday, which is my tradition, so with any hope I can come up with something. This will be the worst costume ever. Get used to it! After Marie 09 I said I wouldn't be making any more big costumes. After all, it's one day a year. Then what do you do with it? Advertise on Craig's list?

More to Try
I may keep the green gypsy to sell and then do Gail's gypsy in reds. She would look so much nicer in red. I am deep in denial as usual.

Gails' Gypsy
I have spent some little time on the mock-up of Gail's. I have the capri pants and over-skirt, the vest, sash and headband done....sort of. Need to fit the main outfit and finish the hems of the accessories.
As usual I'm working on a shoe string, finding stuff in bins in the closet, which is my modus operandi, seems like.
I am looking around for Nancy's RF outfit...I think she is steering to the wench area, which is awesome as long as I create something to go with it. A great lady and a wench girl are two entirely different things. With a half corset I think she'd be better suited to a more casual costume.
What do I know? I am no expert. I just like to sew. I am finding it's fun to make for other people.

The Ren Fair
And so, the journey to Muskogee was made and I visited the Renaissance Fair as I had thought about for years. I'd never really wanted to go, after the first year or so, but...it was fun. Mostly. Hot. Sweated like I was running a race, which I was not.
I re-vamped Marie Antoinette and again, have no pictures. Nor do I want any. Lots of other people took photos though. That part was kind of cool.
Did get pics of the Percherons, pulling the carriage. Such gentle, sweet babies, towering over my head. I was awed when one stamped her foot, creating a small earthquake. Neato!
Yeah, I had a good time, mostly. I don't know that I'd do it again.

Plans
I have made little progress and lots of changes on the pink princess. I think it's going to be cute as hell whenever I get it done. I sewed the lining to individual pieces of the top, hoping to prevent later incidents of slippage and bad seams. I decided to make a ruffly underskirt on flounce and split the pink satin. Just don't have all the time I need to really concentrate to create magic!
Again, I wish I'd taken home-ec!

Winter Doldrums
This is the time of year that all you can do is knit and eat. Both can go either way, I guess. I ought to like sewing because my machine is right over the heat register and I usually enjoy that.

Pink Mess
I have the start of the Pink whatever on the dummy. I need to iron it. Cut out the bodice, think about the transparent sleeves, consider if it will fit in a year or not. Been knitting too much to sew a lot.
